Childhood Cancer Awareness is symbolized by a gold ribbon, the color gold was chosen to represent how precious children are and their resiliency to overcome such intensity. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so it is only fitting that we have chosen to spread kindness through an organization which is focusing on bringing happiness this month to children battling cancer.
Helping Hands Corona aims to build a stronger community in Corona, CA through their motto, “lend a hand, fill a heart.” This organization recognizes the importance of coming together to lift up individuals and families in times of need, and as a result, create a community that is supportive, generous, and loving. To raise awareness for childhood cancer, Helping Hands is bringing boxes of sunshine to children at the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Oncology Clinic. The boxes will be filled with all sorts of yellow or gold goodies for the children and teens undergoing treatment.
When children are diagnosed with cancer their families often have to travel for treatment, leaving their homes and communities. This can leave them feeling isolated and defeated at times, so supporting them as a new community can make a huge difference in their lives. The boxes of sunshine that Helping Hands will deliver are affirmations that no matter how far these families are from home, there are people who care about their well being and want to share positivity and hope as they go through this difficult journey. As ISP ambassadors, you and your families will be helping donate items to be put in the boxes of sunshine to help brighten the lives of children battling cancer.
