In this season of giving thanks, we want to encourage our ambassadors to reflect on who and what they are thankful for in their lives. Before any gift receiving is done, we want to take time to give gifts of thanks.

The lives we live would not be possible without the support of those around us. There are countless people who guide us, teach us and encourage us. Many of these people have probably led you to live kindly, to do charitable acts, and to treat yourself and others with respect. Throughout the year we show appreciation for these people, usually with gifts, during celebrations such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and Teacher Appreciation week. However, how often do you tell these people how you feel and why you are thankful for them being in your life?

As we approach Thanksgiving, we would like our ambassadors to reach out to people who are meaningful in your lives. Tell these people why you are thankful for them! You can choose as many people as you would like. Maybe there is a teacher, a club leader, a peer, a coach, or a family member who you’ve been extra-thankful for this year. When we tell people why we are thankful for them it makes them feel good about themselves, appreciated for what they do for you, and gives them the motivation to continue being the person you admire. Further, showing your thanks strengthens your relationships with those people in your life. This month’s challenge is simple, but has lasting effects!

There is also a part two to this month’s challenge that can be part of your Thanksgiving Day fun!

Items Needed for This Month’s Challenge(s)

    • Cards
    • Pens/Pencils
    • Brown Paper bags (or bags of similar size)

How To Do This Month’s Challenge(s)

Choose a person, or multiple people, that you are thankful for in your life. Using your cards and writing utensil, write down 5 to 10 reasons why you are thankful for that person. Deliver your card!

Part Two: Decorate your paper bag and write “Your Name is Thankful for…” on your bag. Every day from now until Thanksgiving write down one thing you are thankful for in your life. On Thanksgiving Day read your notes to your family and anyone else joining you on Thanksgiving. Encourage your whole family to participate and enjoy hearing what everyone is thankful for in their lives.
