Here is the skinny
What: Help paint homes and schools in Compton with 501(c)3 The Compton Initiative
When: Saturday, July 22, 2017
Time: 7:00am- noon
Where: Meet at the Compton Courthouse at 7:20. Will meet up with staff from the Compton Initiative, local leaders (Compton Mayor, School Board Directors, etc.) to start rally and then leave in shuttles to the 30 different work sites selected for the event.
Who: Anyone. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult
What to bring: Yourself, clothes you can paint in, closed-toed shoes, water, sunblock, and parental release form if under 18.
Why?: Because you’re an awesome, generous kid or adult who wants a morning bonding with family and friends helping others.
For those that want to join you will meet up at the courthouse where local leaders will kick off the event with a rally for the volunteers. Breakfast will be provided here. Shuttles leave approximately at 7:40.
Groups will be assigned a work site that has been predetermined and then shuttled to their work site with a leader and all supplies needed to work (paint brushes, paint, etc)
Once work is done groups will be shuttled back to the courthouse around noon where lunch will be served and friends new and old can share tales of their day giving back. Event generally concludes after lunch around 12:30pm.
